Privacy Policy

This site is the personal website of Jesse R. Traynham. It runs on Node/Express with my MOTE template engine. I keep data collection minimal and focused on running the site, answering messages, and sending updates you asked for.

What I Collect

1) Contact & Mailing List Forms

• What: Name, email, subject, message; for the mailing list, your email (and name if you provide it).
• Why: To reply to you, and to send the updates you requested.
• Where it goes: Submitted data is stored in my own FileMaker Server database via OData. I do not sell or rent your info.

2) Sessions & Cookies

• What: A short-lived session cookie to keep state (e.g., admin sign-in, form flashes/thank-you, pagination state).
• Why: Site functionality only. No ad tracking cookies.
• Where it goes: Session data may be stored server-side and/or in memory on my Node server.

3) Server Logs

• What: Standard web logs (IP address, user agent, referrer, pages requested).
• Why: Security, debugging, reliability.
• How long: Kept for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.

4) Blog Feeds (RSS/Atom/JSON)

• What: When you fetch a feed, the server sees your IP and user agent like any other request.
• Content: Feeds contain public post metadata.

How I Use Your Information

• To operate and improve the site.
• To respond to messages you send.
• To send mailing list updates if you subscribed (you can unsubscribe any time).
• To protect the site (fraud/spam prevention, security).

What I Don’t Do

• No third-party ads.
• No sale or rental of your personal data.
• No third-party tracking cookies.

Legal

• I may disclose information if required by law or to protect my rights and users.

Retention

• Contact messages: Kept as long as needed to respond and maintain records.
• Mailing list: Kept until you unsubscribe or I retire the list.
• Sessions/logs: Short-lived; logs retained for a limited period for security/ops.

Your Choices

• Mailing list: Unsubscribe via any email you receive or contact me to remove your address.
• Contact data: Ask me to correct or delete your message history.
• Cookies: You can block cookies in your browser; core features (like admin/session flashes) may stop working.

Security

I use HTTPS and reasonable technical measures. No system is perfect, but I work to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

Children

This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

I may update this policy as the site evolves. I’ll change the “Last updated” date above and publish the new version here.
